One of the first things that comes to mind when it comes to spooky, creepy, mysterious, is Lizzie Borden. I feel like just about everyone knows her name and what she was accused of, although she was acquitted. She even became a cute little rhyme to sing and jump rope to: Lizzie Borden took an axe. She killed her mother with 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done, she killed her father with 41. Andrew Borden is now dead. Lizzie hit him on the head. Up in heaven he will sing. On the gallows she will swing. For those of you who might not know her story, I’ll give you a recap of her family’s axe murder story that has lasted through the last century and has been made into TV shows and movies.   It is the beginning of Spooky season! I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for cooler weather, changing leaves, and watching Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown on repeat. To kick off Halloween season 2021 I’ve got a fun story for all of you! Whereas folklore and urban legends are always fun, my favorite stories are the ones where there is a personal connection. So you already know from reading the title, this is the story of my mom living at a haunted school when she was a kid. Now I do have to admit, the things that were attributed to the hauntings happened mostly in the years after she lived there, but not all. It is March! We’ve had to go through a lot through 2021 to get here. The snow-pocalypse was quite the ordeal. I hope that everyone made it through safely with minimal damages to your homes. I also hope that everyone has water back to their homes! I know that it took a couple of weeks for some of my friends and family to get their water back here in Abilene.  Throwback to 2010 Now that all of that is over, we are now into Spring! Spring Break is happening soon and it’s about time for St. Patrick's Day on March 17, which also happens to be one of my cousins' birthday!
