June Recap: TMJ Probs, Concussion Pt 2, MRI...
Hello all! We have made it through another month! For 2020, I feel like that is saying something π! I hope everyone’s month has been going well and everyone has been staying safe and healthy. I feel like June has gone by pretty quickly. I think I’ve had things going every week for me to try and keep up with.
I went to the dentist for my regular cleaning, and I spoke with my dentist about my TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder) that has flared back up again. We knew that my having braces didn’t cure me of my TMJ, it’s something that we’re having to work on over the course of years because of my hypermobility. My bite has changed again, so we are working on fixing that again. He also put me on a soft food diet to help with the pain and referred me to rehab to correct a tongue thrust.

We made a couple of weekend trips up to the Dallas area to visit our family friend, Karl. We were with him as we celebrated the life of his father, Ottie, who passed away at the beginning of the month.
Now that hair salons are finally back open, I was finally able to get in to get my roots done. I hadn't been able to get my hair done since February! For most people corona lock down didn't start until mid to end of March, but I had surgery at the beginning of March! I had a good couple of inches of new growth to touch up!

I went to see my primary care doctor this month. I was excited that doctors here in Abilene are actually seeing patients in office again, so I didn’t have to have my appointment over the phone like I did when I was sick back in April! I talked to him about my fall at the beginning of May and the continued neck pain. He was having some concerns about some of the symptoms I was having concerning my neck, so he ordered me some physical therapy and an MRI.
It turned out to be an extra good thing for me to get an MRI because the Sunday before my MRI was scheduled, I slipped and fell. I got out of bed that morning and slipped on a shopping bag I had left on the floor of my room, hit my head against the wall, and got some bruises along the way. My neck has really been killing me since then. Morals of this story: look where you’re going and don’t leave shopping bags on your floor for you to slip on.
I’ve had my MRI and have my results back from it. I have 2 bulging discs in my neck, one sitting on a nerve, explaining why I am having pain in my left arm. Then 1 of my discs is dehydrated. I have my first physical therapy appointment scheduled, and see my chiropractor regularly so hopefully between the two I can get some pain relief.
So I'm definitely hoping and praying for an injury-free July! I hope that everyone's June was great and that July will be even greater ππ
